31. 3. 1949 University of Malaya officially established
The Raffles College and the King Edward VII were merged into the
forming of University of Malaya.
I am proud that I had been a student and now a staff of this great
University

31. 3. 1889 France The Eiffel Tower was open by the French Prime Minister
Tirard.
Frenchman Alexandre Eiffel designed the tower
Eiffel also designed and built the steel structure that
hold the Statue of Liberty.

31. 3. 1901 Germany German inventor Gottlieb Daimier named his new car
after his daughter Mercedes. It was a four cylindered car
which was able to touch a speed of 53 mph
